Effective and Safe Window Cleaners

If you are planning to give your windows a major cleaning this weekend, it would be helpful to know some of the best window cleaning solutions that you can use. Making your windows shiny and grime-free is no easy task, so you better do it right the first time to avoid repeating the tiring job and doing it frequently. Simple water and soap solutions seldom work. Yes, they can help clean your windows, but you have to exert extra scrubbing to thoroughly remove the accumulated dirt.  In spite of that, you may still end up with windows that have white streaks once they have dried up.

Therefore, if you want sparkly clean window glasses, here are some window cleaners that experts would advise you to use.

·         Store-Bought Window Cleaners

To save you the trouble, you can easily buy a bottle of window cleaning solution from the store. These products contain the proper ingredients to ensure streak-free and absolutely clean windows. They have chemicals that will dissolve the dirt yet are not abrasive to the glass. Some brands that you may try are Windex, Method, and Glass Plus.

·         Homemade Window Cleaners

Here is another good option for you. Instead of buying commercially made window cleaners, you can try concocting your own solution. This method will save you some money and homemade window cleaners are also safer to use. If you have kids at home or if you are allergic to certain chemicals then it is best to make your own cleaning solution.

You can try this one: Mix together 4 cups of water, a teaspoon of liquid soap, and half a cup of vinegar. Pour the solution in a spray bottle and it is ready to be used on your windows.

Another option is this: Combine 19 parts of water, 4 parts rubbing alcohol, and 1 part ammonia.

For routine cleaning in between major ones, you can simply mix some water, cornstarch, and dishwashing liquid for a quick cleaning fix. All these recipes have proven to be very effective at cleaning glass windows. As you can see, the ingredients used are not hard to find either. Most are right in your kitchen cupboard.

Using the right window cleaners is not enough to get the best results, though. It is equally important that you use the right tools. For instance, avoid abrasive sponges to wipe your windows. Cotton cloths are gentler on glass surfaces and they do not leave behind any lint. Aside from protecting your glass windows, you should also protect your skin, so always use a pair of gloves when handling window-cleaning solutions.
